Hippie Chic

22 February 2012

A sixties rock chick, Anita Pallenberg is best known for playing muse to the Rolling Stones.  The Italian born actress toured the world with the band for nearly two decades, earning her nickname as the First Lady of Rock. After discovering Morocco in the mid-60’s, Marrakesh quickly became the band’s playground.  Influenced by the vibrant Moroccan culture, Anita developed a unique sense of style that helped inspire our exclusive capsule collection for Shopbop.com.

ALEXANDRA SHULMAN

31 January 2011

Alexandra Shulman

One of our team went to a lecture not long ago where Alexandra Shulman talked about her life and life in fashion. The Editor-in-Chief of Vogue is impressive in her ability to edit one of the most beautiful and fantastical magazines in the world, whilst admitting that outside office hours, she turns off entirely and does not ever think about work.

Alexandra Shulman

She says it has always been her skill to be in the countryside playing tennis, with no cares in the world, and then come Monday she is back at her desk ready to take on the fashion world. It is refreshing to see an ambitious, successful woman with such a great work/life balance; likewise a woman who is happy to be honest and open about it.

OH, CLAUDIA

10 December 2010

We recently visited Fotografiska, Stockholm’s photography museum, to see a Swedish fashion photography exhibition. These stunning Camilla Akrans’ shots of MiH’s biggest fan, Claudia Schiffer, were undoubtedly a highlight of the show for us.

MAKES ME BEAUTIFUL

10 September 2010

Nicky Kinnaird, founder of SpaceNK, comes fairly high up on our list of inspirational women. She opened her first store in London’s Covent Garden in 1993 and now has 63 stores across the UK and 4 stores in the US, with an annual turn over of over £40 million.
More than this, though, we are inspired by her huge involvement in every single aspect of her business, despite its massive growth (apparently she can equally recite figures as the latest press coverage) whilst still getting up at 5.30 every morning to run or play tennis, AND having a life. She also uses Frette bedlinen, of which we are very jealous.
Last but not least, she scores points for being Northern Irish, as one of our team members is a very proud Belfast girl.
