Drawing Jean

1 May 2012

We've fallen in love with UK artist Clare Owen's charming illustrations.  Beautifully whimsy, Owen's work explores themes of adventure and femininity.  Her drawings of Jean Seberg in the film Breathless (the inspiration behind our Breathless jean) are among our favourites.  Visit our Illustrations Board on Pinterest to see more of our favourite illustrations by simply clicking here

We’re excited to announce the launch of our Portobello Collection: a small range of seriously perfect pieces inspired by the cool girls of Portobello Market. To celebrate we’re giving one lucky fan the chance to win a head-to-toe look from the collection - just click below to enter.

One of London’s most notable street markets, Portobello has been around since the 18th century, but it wasn’t until the mid 1960’s when trendsetters started styling their high street clothing with vintage clothing and accessories that Portobello Rd. became a shopping destination for London’s style set.

This new approach to dressing celebrated mixing old with new and high with low, and the girls that inspired our Portobello Collection did this with ease – cultivating a personal sense of style that was effortlessly chic and forever cool.

DESIGN DOC

5 April 2012

Like the Eames aesthetic, the new documentary narrated by James Franco on the husband-and-wife design team behind Eames is insightful, stylish and cool.

Together Charles and Ray Eames helped give shape to the 20th century with their modern furniture, but it was their philosophy on life that we love most. They viewed their roles as architect and painter not as jobs, but as ways of looking at the world – “Life was fun was work was fun was life.”  We’re guessing this philosophy made for a genuinely enjoyable workweek.

ON VIEW

20 March 2012

British artist David Hockney is well known for his pop art paintings of California swimming pools (which we love), but his latest exhibition at London's Royal Academy of the Arts showcases a very different body of work – landscapes inspired by East Yorkshire (and we love these too).

Armed with a newfound passion for technology, 74 year-old Hockney has expanded into the digital, and the exhibition includes a series of iPad drawings and films, which allow viewers to interact with Hockney's work in a brand new way.

The exhibition is on view until April 9th so if you're in London – mark your calendars, it's a must-see.

If Walls Could Talk

6 March 2012

London based photographer Noemie Goudal has completely captivated us with her large-scale paper backdrops. Her carefully placed images blur the lines between reality and make-believe, inviting viewers into a hidden world we wish we could explore.
