Everlasting

Style icon Jane Birkin captured the world’s attention in a pair of blue jeans – and she made it look easy.  With a captivating confidence and an easy elegance, Birkin made simplicity sophisticated, which is exactly why we named our new Birkin Shirt in her honor.

Puglia, Puglia

17 April 2012

It didn’t take long for Puglia, Italy to win our hearts.  It’s home to the family-owned factory where our jeans are stitched to perfection before they make their way into your wardrobe.  The region has an undeniably Italian cool factor (even the sign hanging outside the factory is cool!), and we’re not the only ones who think so – we’ve spotted Helen Mirren on more than one Puglia-bound flight.

And if that’s not reason enough to put a trip to Puglia on your bucket list, these photos may do the trick.  Photographed for British Vogue by Lauran Sciacovelli in her hometown of Salento in Puglia, these images speak for themselves, conveying what we love most about the region.

DESIGN DOC

5 April 2012

Like the Eames aesthetic, the new documentary narrated by James Franco on the husband-and-wife design team behind Eames is insightful, stylish and cool.

Together Charles and Ray Eames helped give shape to the 20th century with their modern furniture, but it was their philosophy on life that we love most. They viewed their roles as architect and painter not as jobs, but as ways of looking at the world – “Life was fun was work was fun was life.”  We’re guessing this philosophy made for a genuinely enjoyable workweek.

Iconic Style

3 April 2012

Uniquely striking, Nico spent her teenage years modeling throughout Europe before fleeing to New York where she caught the attention of Andy Warhol and his Factory crowd.  Under Warhol’s guidance, she joined forces with his in-house band, The Velvet Underground, singing lead vocals on one of the most legendary rock albums of all time, The Velvet Underground and Nico.

Her wide eyes and high cheekbones made her a 60s standout, but it’s her undeniably modern sense of style that has made her an enduring fashion icon and the inspiration behind our iconic blue jean, the Nico.

In celebration of Nico’s low maintenance, high impact style, we’ve created a Pinterest board showcasing her best looks.  Check it out here.

A trip to Lebanon

30 March 2012

Recently our Head of PR flew to Beirut to attend the Boutique 1 Spring-Summer 2012 Press Preview.

Journalists from all of the Lebanese magazines and newspapers were out in force, not to mention the local paparazzi. The store had been turned into an MiH heaven with jeans flying everywhere as they were tried on between much chatting, touring the shop floor and sipping wine.

Beirut itself was beautiful. The people are some of the friendliest we've ever met. It was just a shame about the weather. We blame the non-stop rain for the lack of decent outdoor photos.
