We were given a tip off for this film while in Dublin today for our SS12 press day. The brother of Irish Times Fashion Editor Deirdre McQuillan filmed himself driving around Dublin in 1976 in a Mini Moke and it is now a huge youtube hit in Ireland 36 years later. Check out the flares. We wonder if any of those were Made in Heaven (get it?).

A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY

Bear with us; it’s interesting! Pre 1960, denim was seen purely as workwear. It was only in the 60s & 70s that people began to see it as a fashion item. At this point designers began to introduce denim into their collections and play around with details. In an attempt to move away from the western aesthetic, menswear designers began to swap 5 pocket detailing for jet front pockets and the trend gradually caught on in womenswear too.

The jet front pocket became an iconic feature associated with flared jeans and can be seen on all of the Marrakesh jeans in the original Made in Heaven archive – a detail you see to this day in the current MiH collection.
THE ORIGINAL MIH MUSE

Chloe's Mum, Chekkie Maskell, was the original model for MiH Jeans back in the 1970’s. We think this makes her the perfect candidate to be the first of our ‘MiH Denim Icons’. Not many people can rock a simple pair of blue jeans and a white t-shirt better.
